OTH 808-Mouthful of Diamonds

The opening was performed by Grace Potter this week and was very enjoyable.

Nathan heads to Atlanta to persuade Troy Jameson to sign with the Atlanta Falcons. Troy and Nathan meet Tony Gonzalez, a Falcons' player who has been in the league 14 seasons and who is a first-ballot hall of famer. Just before going back to practice, Tony tells Troy: "This is a great team. It's an unbelivable organization. And I know you got to handle your business, but I'm telling you, you should be here with us." Sounds like the rookie has a great opportunity to take!
Then, Nathan breaks out his first great speech by using childhood rememberings to convince Troy to sign:

  • Nathan: You have to earn it. And last year, when my contract was up, it was hard to know what to do. And with negotiations being so public, it was easy to compare myself to what other guys were getting or had gotten. And then one day I found myself getting bitter about it because my signing bonus wasn't high enough or they'd only give me two years instead of three. I mean, we're athletes. You know, we're competitive. We want to be the best and have the most and win. But then I asked myself a real simple question, when you were a kid, what was your dream? What was your dream, Troy?

  • Troy: I wanted to be a power ranger. And I wanted to play football. I wanted to be a quarterback in the NFL.

  • Nathan: And did that dream have anything to do with escalators or the highest signing bonus in league history?

  • Troy: No.

  • Nathan: You're here, Troy. And the money is more money than you probably ever dreamed of. But, hey, if you think you're worth more, there's only one place to prove that, and it's down there every Sunday. You can't prove it from up here. You have to earn it.

As an athlete myself, I can definitely say that this speech was convincing. A good speech is usually the one which reminds you why you are an athlete, why you make all these comittments to a team and what are your main goals. It doesn't have to be long to be efficient. Once again, feelings play an important part in a good speech.
Troy takes the decision to join the Atlanta Falcons and becomes officially an NFL player.

Haley tries to get Erin to sign with Red Bedroom Records. Mia helps her by telling Erin that Haley is a very good producer.

Brooke finally signs away her company Clothes Over Bros. The poor Brooke is officially back to Tree Hill. Sylvia is still trying to organize the wedding as she wants but Brooke doesn't want her financial aid anymore and prefers to organize a small wedding that will be a "Brooke Davis wedding" and that she can afford.
Jamie is facing a child problem: braces. Haley tries to make him laugh and feel more comfortable with his new braces by wearing different funny accessories such as an eye patch and fake and redneck teeth. She also tells him that he shouldn't care about his braces because they're cool. At school, one of Jamie's friend (a girl) tells him that his braces are cool and Jamie feels much better.

Julian continues his work on his new movie, which will actually be a documentary about "what's next" in the life of every Tree Hill character.

OTH 807-Luck Be A Lady

This week's episode begins with a scene between Brooke and Julian. Julian is working on his new movie and tells Brooke that he doesn't have a best man for their wedding. Since he moved to Tree Hill, he is in this "Brooke bubble" and hasn't got close to anyone else. Alex, who is his only friend, wants to help him to find a best man. To do so, she organizes a poker night with all Tree Hill's guys. It was hilarious to see Julian really anxious before calling Nate and Clay. It was like he was calling them for a date!
But the poker night is not going really well and becomes more tense than fun. All the guys start ripping each other, from mean nicknames to who slept with who... Marvin (Mouth) explains that, in high school, Nathan punched him in the face saying that he had a big mouth and that is why he kept the nickname "Mouth". At the end of the night, Julian realizes that it won't be that easy to find a best man.

Brooke is going to a wedding expo with Sylvia, which is a good occasion to start over their relashionship. But because of their differences of tastes, the day becomes very quickly a real nightmare for Brooke. She even calls Haley to rescue her, but Haley, who is getting sentimental because of her pregnancy, approves all Sylvia's ideas, from the champagne fountain to the wedding dress. It seems that Brooke has to fight on her own! Luckily, she doesn't have to commit with any sellers because she finds Sylvia sleeping on a couch, drunk. She takes her home and when she puts her into bed, Sylvia tells her "I always wanted a daughter and today was everything I dreamed it would be". Is it finally going to get better between the two women?

Nathan has a appointment in Atlanta with Troy Jameson's manager. Troy has just fired his agent and is looking for a new one. The manager asks Nathan what he thinks about escalators but this one is not familiar at all with the NFL business terms and doesn't know what to answer. Nathan, furious, calls Clay and tells him that he is going home.
Back to Tree Hill, Nathan explains to Haley that he has never felt that stupid since high school. Haley tries to recomfort her husband by telling him that she screwed up with Erin.
Clay apologizes for not preparing him and tells Nathan that Troy wants him to be his agent. That was fast! A new sport agent is born!

Alex explains to Julian that she came back to Tree Hill to see Chase, because she loves him and that she wants to apolologize. But Chase is still very mad at her and tries to make her jealous by kissing Mia in front of her at Tric. Both Alex and Mia slap him for his childish behavior.

What did you think about this week's episode? Do you think that Sylvia is going to follow Brooke's ideas for the wedding or decide for everything? Do you want to see Chase and Alex back together?

OTH 806-Not Afraid

The episode starts with a dream sequence at Clay's house. Quinn just gets up and goes to the living room where she finds Clay and psycho Katie sitted together on the couch. Their faces are covered by scars and blood. Clay can barely talk as he is missing a part of his mouth. Quinn is horrified by what she sees and runs away when both Katie and Clay stand up to kill her. She finds Nathan in another room, playing video games, and asks him for help. Nathan answers that Clay will be fine thanks to his kidney (the scene shows Nathan pulling out one of his kidney while talking to Quinn). Quinn yells and tries to find Haley. She finds her in her bedroom, bleeding. Haley tells Quinn that she has been bitten and that she has to take care of Jamie. Quinn runs away with Jamie and suddenly arrives at Clothes Over Bros where Julian and Brooke are fighting against zombies. The dream sequence finishes when Jamie, who has become a zombie, jumps on Quinn to kill her.

This episode openning, which obviously celebrates Halloween, was very entertaining. Sophia Bush (Brooke), who directed the episode this week, did a nice job!
By the way, this dream sequence reveals that Quinn is still haunted by Katie, and we learn that she secretely bought a gun to protect herself and Clay. He realizes that something is wrong with Quinn, when she refuses to give candies to kids because she thought she saw, on the security monitor, psycho Katie coming up to their house. Clay advises her to get some rest in South Africa by taking a photo assignment for a few weeks.

Brooke starts realizing that she's lost everything and feels like she doesn't really know who she is anymore. Julian tries to cheer her up by complimenting her beauty and her talent. Then comes one of my favorite moments of the episode! Sylvia, Julian's mother, arrives in town and knocks on Brooke's door. When Brooke opens the door, Sylvia says: "Trick or treat?". Brooke, who doesn't know Julian's mother, thinks that this old woman is an idiot and answers her: "Aren't you a little old for trick or treating?".

This is the first lesson on "how to start a wonderful relationship with your mother in law" by Brooke Davis! But after this incident, Brooke is trying to make friends with Sylvia and shares with her her wedding planning book. Sylvia ignores all of Brooke's ideas but is enthraled by Julian's ones.
The things are getting worse between the two women when Sylvia dresses Julian up as a dalmatian for Halloween to match her Cruella Devil costume... After losing her company, Brooke will have to put up with Sylvia, who is (we have to admit it) a pain in the neck!

Nathan is scared not to be a good agent. His frist client is a young football player named Troy. I strongly believe that Nathan is going to be an awesome sport agent. He has sport in his blood, which is a considerable asset to advise other athletes.

Haley has been getting regular phone calls from Erin and finds out with surprise that Erin is the singer who performed at Tric.

Mouth and Millie are getting closer at the Halloween party, but because of a misunderstanding, Millie goes home with another guy who is wearing a Spartacus costume. The guy in question is tall and extremely muscular, which makes our poor skiny Mouth uncomfortable.

I enjoyed the theme song performed by Laura Izibor this week.

OTH 805-Nobody Taught Us to Quit

In this week's episode, Brooke and Nathan face a hard situation. They both have to announce officially that they are giving up the thing they love the most: Clothes Over Bros and basketball.

Brooke announces her final decision to her mother in jail. Victoria is extremely upset and thinks that Brooke has lost her mind. She asks Brooke not to visit her again after saying: "I leave you alone for a few days and you go back to that stupid girl who follows her heart". I can't say that I totally agree with Brooke's decision. Life is hard, especially when you are working in the business field. Being the CEO of a big company such as Clothes Over Bros involves that you have to face problems and take hard decisions. This is nice from her to give up her personal fortune for complete strangers but seriously... does she live in Disneyland, where everybody is happy and gets along with each other?

Nathan announces his decision to Clay (his agent) at the hospital. Surprisingly, Clay is nothing but supportive. What kind of man has this reaction after losing his main client? I know Nathan is his best friend but still! Is he not concerned about losing his carrer as well?
Luckily for him, Nathan comes up with the idea of being partners, so that Clay won't lose his other clients while he is convalescing.
By the way, it looks like a perfect career move for Nathan. As a former athlete, he will be more than able to advise and represent other athletes.

About the others:
- Clay gets out of the hosital and returns home with Quinn.
- Chase learns that Alex is living town to play in a new movie.
- Mouth has the opportunity to work in sport broadcasting again.

OTH 804-We All Fall Down

This episode starts with Nathan on the court playing basketball... alone. His decision to let his basketball carreer behind him is affecting him, and as he walks off the court, we can see (through Julian's video camera) the sadness and regrets in his eyes. I can hardly believe that Nathan will stay home to take care of his family. He is an athlete, which means that he needs action, physical activity to feel fine. Sport is for an athlete what drug is for a drug addict, you can't stop that easily! And I don't want to see a depressed Nathan trying to forget his sadness by drinking, as he did in season 5. Nathan is a real go-getter, so he will probably find something else to do, and hopefully it will be related to sport.

Brooke makes the hard decision of liquidating all the assets of Clothes Over Bros and of giving up her personal fortune. She wants to pay back all the investors who believed in her company. I would be glad to see the "poor Brooke" back to Tree Hill, even if the idea of giving up her personal money for complete strangers sounds a bit extreme to me. It will also have negative impacts on her wedding with Julian. They probably won't be able to organize the "wedding of their dreams" like they wanted to. However, Julian shows her a beautiful castle (Baltimore Estate) where he suggests to organize the ceremony.

Victoria is still in jail, and has other prisonners working for her. She wants to run Clothes Over Bros from jail and doesn't understand Brooke's will.

Alex and Chase enjoy a day of golfing. They were cute but I have to admit that, though it was entertaining, it was a bit cheesy. Alex reveals she's never been in love, and Chase that he was a member of the Clean Teens when he was a teenager. For those who don't remember, the Clean Teens was a club with the motto "Virgin for life".

Haley is happier than ever when she picks Quinn up at the hospital. Quinn is going to leave with Haley's family for a while (until Clay gets better).

We also learned that Haley is now volunteering at the crisis call center. She doesn't really enjoy her job because people are calling for trivial problems. But, she finally receives a call from a mysterious woman who seems to have a real need to talk to her. Haley is a good listener and I am sure she will give her good advice to overcome her problems.

The season is getting better. Hopefully, Tree Hill is back on the right track!

OTH 803-The Space in Between

Are you kidding? It was my first reaction when I understood that Clay and Quinn would be the main characters of the episode for the third time. I can't stand them! They are completely useless to the show.
At the beginning of the episode, Clay was still a "ghost" roaming the hospital. He met another "ghost" named Will, who was also fighting to make his way back. Will was a pretty interesting character and helped me to handle the out of body experience for the third time in a row.
Nathan insisted to give Clay one of his kidney in order to save him. What about his basketball career? He is about to play for the Charlotte Bobcats after fighting for years to enter the NBA and now he wants to quit...for Clay? I can't believe it! Luckily, the medical tests revealed that Nathan wasn't a match. Hurray! Finally a good news! But two minutes later, Nathan announced that his back problem was getting worse and that he might not play basketball anymore... What decision is he going to make? What will be the effects on his professional and personal life? Is the depressed Nathan (season 5) back to Tree Hill?
At the end of the episode, Will died and Clay lived thanks to Will, who gave him his kidney... Clay is back... What a disappointment!

The good news is that Victoria Davis is going to jail. She is finally taking her responsabilities for the whole financial fraud business. I was impressed by her behavior. She changed so much since the previous seasons. Is she finally a good mother for Brooke?

My favorite moment of the episode was when Jamie told Brooke and Julian that they're "going to make great parents some day". What more can we hope for? Brooke deserves to be happy and have a baby. I loved her relashionship with Sam (season 6). But what happened to her? She suddenly disappeared after receiving the letter from her biological mother and didn't give any news to Brooke... How sad is that? They were so close. Sam was definitely a trouble maker but she gave some fresh air to the show. Hope to see her back to Tree Hill really soon.

This week, the opening theme song was performed by Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy but I didn't like it.

OTH 802-I Can't See You, But I Know You're There

"I Can't See You, But I Know You're There" was the worst OTH episode ever!

First of all, I didn't like the theme song version, which was performed by Kate Voegele this week.
Clay and Quinn were (AGAIN!) the main characters and their out of body experiences made me want to hit my head against the wall! Seriously, how boring and ridiculous was it?
In addition, it seemed that Clay was used to this kind of situation and stood in regal composure the whole episode, even explaining to Quinn how it worked! Anyway, Quinn is back to life and Clay is still unconscious. I hope he won't make his way back.
Although Nathan and Haley's monologues to Clay and Quinn were touching, I didn't feel the same way than if it was Lucas or Peyton... I was strongly attached to these two characters but Clay and Quinn leave me cold.

Concerning Nathan and Haley's medical situations, we will have to wait for the next epidode... Nothing had been revealed this week.

Julian and Jamie spent the day together and we discovered another side of Julian's personality. It seems that Julian is clumsy and obviously a real loser... But, isn't it the way we like him? At least he is not the perfect and boring guy like Clay!

Brooke learned that the court holds her responsible for fraud because her signature appears on the documents containing the illegal behavior. Obviously, it's a forged signature...

Now, let's hope that the next episode will be better than this week... Tune in next Tuesday to find out!
